A lady and a horse

I went to the Aylsham show on Monday to compete in the Working Hunter Class, riding a new pony Corrie side saddle. When I arrived at the show, to my horror I found that I had brought the stirrup for Tonka’s saddle not Corrie s Saddle. And side saddle stirrups have specific fittings. Help ! Having already made a new friend of the lady with the trailer next to mine, Ann Howard, we worked out that if we used her daughter’s stirrup leather and iron from her cross saddle, and hung it over my pommel then that would be pretty good. So off I went, I made a horlicks of the first class, its not as easy as you think, but luckily another friend Sally came to the rescue and schooled me over some jumps. So off we went for the Open Class and flew round the course, other than the first jump because I came in on the left rein and not on the right rein. Stupid me. But I was so pleased with my and Corrie s achievement that I have now a big grin on my face all the time, and the judge gave me a special rosette, for being special of course. When I have some pictures I will put them up, another new friend in the collecting ring, Tim kindly gave me leg ups and then took some excellent photographs of us, just flying.
